What is Reiki?

Reiki means ‘Universal Life Force Energy’, the vital energy around and within all living things.

  • Pronounced ‘Ray-Key’:
    • ‘Rei’ means ‘Universal’ and describes the cosmic, universal aspect of this energy
    • ‘Ki’ means ‘Life Force Energy’

In different cultures and religions of the world, the fundamental life force energy (Ki) is known as:

  • ‘Chi’ – Chinese
  • ‘Prana’ – Hindus
  • ‘Light’ – Christians

Reiki is a natural, simple and safe healing technique for transferring healing energy from a Giver to a Receiver, it can bring inner peace, harmony and healing to those seeking it.

This beautiful energy literally has the power to transform lives!

  • Universal Life Force Energy was re-discovered in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (died 9th March 1926). After many years of study, research and meditation, Dr Usui developed Reiki as a healing technique; he then spent the rest of his life practising and teaching Reiki.
  • There are many variations of Reiki, but in essence Reiki works at bringing us into balance while reinforcing the body’s natural ability to heal itself at all levels, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.
  • Whilst spiritual by nature, Reiki is not attached to any cult or religion; therefore, anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment.
  • Reiki is taught by a Reiki Master/Teacher who has trained in the tradition passed on, in person, from Master to student. Students are not only taught the art of Reiki but are also attuned to the Reiki energy.

Julie takes this process very seriously and sensitively guides and trains her students how to work with, and benefit from, Reiki.

Once attuned, students are able to treat themselves, which will, not only improve their General Health and well Being,  but will improve and support their Mental Health.

Regular Reiki, whether self-treating or receiving from a therapist (or both), is sure to bring about a deep sense of balance, calm and inner peace which can support personal development and spiritual growth.

  • Sick and healthy babies, children and adults of all ages can benefit from a Reiki treatment.
  • Animals also enjoy and benefit from the Reiki touch.
  • Reiki may naturally be applied as an additional form of treatment and complements all other therapies and orthodox treatment.
  • The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is simple. The recipient remains clothed and lies on a couch or sits on a chair and relaxes.  The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively, on or near the body.  There is no massage or manipulation and the whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.
  • It is also possible to receive Reiki at a distance.
  • Reiki does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. It is a natural therapy that adapts to the natural needs of the recipient.

Reiki is intended for the healing and harmonisation of all living things, however, in the case of illness a Doctor should always be consulted.
